This bulletin applies to 2010-2016 Porsche vehicles. The PCM 3.1 in Porsche vehicles is a very sophisticated device, similar in operation to a laptop or desktop computer. It is possible during normal operation for an internal PCM process to become “stuck” due to corrupt or unknown externally produced data.

If your PCM3.1 is software version 3.xx it won't update to 4.76. It will update to 3.43 (IIRC), but that will do the same system updates as 4.76. Only software 4.xx will update to 4.76. There are any number of reasons why a PCM 3.1 may experience this. If a PCM 3.1 reboots once or very infrequently (once per month), it could be considered characteristic operation and should be explained to the customer as such.

However, if the rebooting becomes more regular, more frequent or happens under a specific set of circumstances, it is necessary to isolate what is causing the PCM 3.1 to experience this condition and ultimately reboot.

Can anyone confirm if there's a later PCM3.1 version?
I'm currently using v4.74. There's a few annoying things with it so i was hoping they may be fixed in a later version!

There was certainly a V4.76 at the tail end of 2017 and I suspect that may have been the final version (there comes a point where Porsche no longer supports 'legacy' products).
Depending on warranty coverage (ie: is there an extended warranty in effect?) Porsche used to provide the update foc so long as there was a sound reason for doing so. A known issue with earlier versions that was fixed at V4.76 was for the PCM to occasionally, and randomly, switch-off and cycle through a restart/reboot routine. In my experience, the OPC would take that explanation as justification for a foc update.
(You probably know but this is to do with firmware updates and has nothing to do with mapping, where separate updates may be available but nearly always at some cost!).
