This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & also 2016 in Canada) Dodge Durango SUV in checking or changing a blown electrical fuse or relay in the engine bay fuse box, which is also known as the 'integrated power module' or 'power distribution center'. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Charger, Journey, Dart, Challenger, Grand Caravan, and Ram C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. This 2014 Dodge Durango SUV is equipped with the standard mini blade fuses. Replacement fuses in a variety of amperage ratings (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) can be purchased at Walmart, Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts or online at Amazon. A yellow plastic fuse puller tool is included at the right rear corner of the electrical panel.

The fuse box is located at the front left area of the engine bay. Press in the two tabs on the front edge of the fuse box cover to release the retaining clips. Swing open the hinged fuse box cover to access the electrical panel. There should be a yellow plastic fuse puller tool in the right rear corner of the block. Pull out the fuse puller tool.
Pull Out Old Fuse | Hold Up To Light Source | Push In New Fuse |
Pull the old fuse straight out of the socket. Hold the old fuse up to a light source to check its condition. If the thin metal bar in the translucent plastic center of the old fuse appears to be intact, it is most likely still good. But since new fuses are so inexpensive, it should still be replaced as part of your electrical problem troubleshooting process. If the metal strip in the middle of the fuse appears to be burnt or broken, then it is most likely 'blown' and needs to be replaced. Push a new mini blade fuse of the same amperage rating (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25) straight in to the socket.
Replace Fuse Puller Tool | Swing Hinged Cover Closed | Push To Secure Clips |
Re-insert the fuse puller tool in to its holder at the right rear corner of the electrical panel. Swing the hinged fuse box cover closed. Push down on the front edge of the fuse box cover to secure the two retaining clips in place. For more, check out my other Dodge Durango DIY Repair & Maintenance Guides. |
